Jane M. Dolloff

Jane Dolloff passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA.

Jane was born on October 3, 1949 in Hyannis to Charles & Eunice Dolloff and grew up there with her sister Marsha. She attended the Federated Church of Hyannis with her family throughout her childhood. Later in her adult life, when she moved back to the Cape, Jane returned to the church, where she served on several committees and sang in the choir.

Jane attended Barnstable High School and graduated in 1967. After graduating from Fisher College with an Associate’s degree in 1969, Jane moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked in banking for 13 years. Jane was a deeply compassionate person. During her time in Denver, she volunteered at a suicide prevention center.  After her father’s death in 1982, Jane moved back to the Cape and worked in insurance until she got a position at Urban College of Boston in 1997. A few years later, Jane moved to Rockland to be closer to work. Urban College is a two-year college that empowers under-represented adult learners to achieve success.  Jane was passionate about the College and dedicated her life to its mission.  As Coordinator of Enrollment Services,  Jane sat at the front desk of Urban College for over 17 years and became the heart and soul of the College. Her sharp sense of humor and tender heart welcomed thousands of students into the Urban College community.” Urban College President Michael Taylor said “ Jane was gifted in her empathy to UCB’s students. She understood their fears and apprehensions about being in college and responded with encouragement and support. She was deeply loved by the staff and faculty. As one faculty member noted, “She was an anchor for so many.”

Jane is survived by her sister, Marsha (husband Lyle), two nieces, Kristin (husband Noah) and Karin (husband Chris), two grand-nieces, Isabella and Olivia, and several cousins, including, Karen and Bill Eichelberger (MA), Ken and Lee Dolloff (MA), Cherry Smith (MD), Barbara Guidry (NC), and Marjorie Thaggard (WA).

Jane’s Family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care that Jane was given by the ICU staff at South Shore Hospital.
