Steverman, James W. “Jim” of Dorchester, died January 18, 2024. 

Jim was a graduate of South Boston High School. He was a proud Vietnam era Veteran. Jim was very proud of his great nieces & nephews and all of their accomplishments. Jim enjoyed his trips into Faneuil Hall where he greatly enjoyed meeting new people, sharing laughs, good conversation and listening to Irish music. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed poetry. He always was coming up with a funny joke or riddle to make people smile.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Josephine and Walter Steverman. Longtime companion of the late Patricia Sines. Loving brother of Linda McCarthy and her husband William of Weymouth, Thomas Steverman of Weymouth and the late Joseph and John Steverman. Cherished uncle to Tammy Sullivan and her husband John of Weymouth, William McCarthy and his wife Tina of Weymouth, Linda McCarthy and Scott Quimby of Carver, James McCarthy of Rockland and many great nieces and nephews. Dear brother in law of Donna Steverman of Weymouth.

On behalf of Jim, his family would like to thank the Nurses and his care team at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury for the care, compassion and honor they provided him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Jim to Tunnels to Towers at t2t.org.
