James W. Chetwynd

Chetwynd, James W., of Wareham, formerly of Quincy, died November 19, 2013.

Jim’s life revolved around his family and his faith.  His family gave him great joy and he and his wife Regina were fortunate to raise four children who went on to carry out their lessons of love and service to others.  Jim’s faith served him well and he was a member of his local parish as well as a volunteer for the Holy Name Society and St. Vincent DePaul.  He also worked tirelessly for those less fortunate through the gift of his time to Habitat for Humanity, Fr. Bill’s Place, Muscular Dystrophy, the PBS Auction, and American Cancer Society.  Jim worked as a painter for over 30 years at Boston Edison and was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He loved woodworking, fishing and golf.  He will be remembered for his caring disposition, giving ways, keen sense of humor, intelligence and most importantly his humble nature. 

Beloved husband of the late Regina M. (Currie) Chetwynd.  Loving father of James Chetwynd and his wife Marilyn of Westwod, Michael Chetwynd and his wife Wanda of TN, Jane Wilson and her husband Daniel of SC, and Regina Bergeron and her husband Thomas of Plymouth.  Son of the late Mary “Madeline” (McCorkle) and Elliott Chetwynd.  Brother of Mary Melzard of Quincy and the late Marguerite Croatti and Carol Haley.  Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at Saturday at 10:45 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 11:30 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
