James G. Schneider (otherwise known as Jim, Jimmy, or Jets) passed away unexpectedly, on March 21, 2025. He was 68 years old. Jim was a man whose goofy nature and loving aura touched everyone he met, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Jim was the son of the late William and Theresa (Corley) Schneider.
Jim grew up in Weymouth and lived there throughout his life. He also spent months in Naples with his Florida family and countless weekends exploring the mountains of New England.
Jim was most himself when he was outdoors. An avid hiker, Jim had bagged all 48 of New Hampshire's 4,000-foot mountains (and all 68 of New England’s), finding peace and solace in the embrace of nature. His summers were spent cycling with friends under the warm sun. Whether he was attending his weekly yoga class or kayaking through the choppy winter waves in Boston Harbor, Jim never shied away from joy and adventure. He was a big runner and completed hundreds of road races from 5Ks to marathons. A lover of wildlife, Jim enjoyed looking for birds in the backyard and carving wooden ducks.
Professionally, Jim was a skilled carpenter and jack of all trades. He could build anything from houses and decks to bookshelves and boxes. He did work for people all up and down the South Shore. He was also a friend of Bill’s for over 40 years.
The only thing that Jim loved more than the great outdoors was the people in his life. His silly light-heartedness was infectious, and he made every person he met feel like a beloved old friend. Jim marched to the beat of his own drum, and he made us all laugh along the way.
Loving father to David Schneider and his partner Tina Cardoza of Plymouth, Deanna Schneider Mulhern and her husband Matt of Naples, FL, and Tessa Schneider of Weymouth. Grandfather to David Schneider Jr., Shyanne Schneider, Riley Mulhern, Brady Mulhern and Chris Cardoza. Brother to Shelley Campbell and her husband Buzz Smith, Jill White and her husband George, Judy Schneider and her wife Julie Guarino, Alan Schneider, Lee Osby and her husband Bill, and the late Pat Gravalese. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother’s husband Tom Thornton as well as the mothers of his children Pati McDermott and Nancy MacDonald.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 3/27/2025 from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street).
