Powers, James of Quincy, passed away January 9, 2013.
He was the son of the late Wesley Sewall and Katherine (Casey) Powers. Jim was a brother to Donald G. Powers of California and his wife June, and to the late Robert W. Powers and his wife Mary Carolyn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in Boston and grew up in North Quincy. He graduated from Northeastern University and went on to earn his Master’s degree at Wharton Graduate Division, University of Pennsylvania.
Jim was also a veteran, serving as a Lieutenant with the United States Navy on the USS Essex. After his naval career, he was a marketing representative for various businesses including IBM, Xerox, and AT&T.
He also worked for several years as a sales associate for Stop and Shop Supermarket. Jim was a devoted son and longtime caregiver for his parents during their later years.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of South Shore Elder Services and the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston for their exceptional care, kindness and assistance.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy, followed by his Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 11 AM.
Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
