James P. Kelly

Kelly, James P. of Hingham, passed away December 23, 2011. Beloved husband of Jane (Raybould) Kelly of Hingham. Loving father of Kimberlee Kelly, and Lauren Kelly Ugarte and her husband Roberto, all of S. Boston. Cherished “Grumpy” of Charly Ugarte. Loving brother of John Kelly and his wife Joan of W. Roxbury, Mary Nelson and her husband Arthur of Walpole, Sr. Patricia Kelly of Wollaston, and Jim’s twin brother Andrew Kelly and his wife Helen of Braintree. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Boston and raised in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester. He was so proud of his roots and maintained close relationships with his earliest of friends, many of which belonged to the Line Club with him. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and retired from the Boston Edison in 1994, as a Division Head after 37 years. His family meant the world to him and he was a strong proponent of their education. An avid golfer, he played for over 40 years at Brookmeadow in Canton and various local courses with his friends. A sports fan, he enjoyed all the local teams and also taught many family and friends how to ski. Jim was generous to a fault, would help anyone in need and could sometimes display his Irish stubbornness. He will be missed by all those who loved him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in Hingham Cemetery, Hingham.
