McCusker, James Gregory, (Born July 25, 1962), resident of Waltham, MA and former resident of Cambridge, MA, passed away suddenly on May 23, 2024. He was a beloved son to the late George P McCusker and Virginia M (Brouillard) McCusker. James was a loving father and brother who is survived by his daughter Alexandra McCusker, her husband Michael Greenberg and his grandchildren Jack and Beau Greenberg., Former wife JoAnne Gardyna, sister Carol Crosslin and her late husband John Crosslin, brother Walter McCusker and his wife Maureen McCusker, and sister Jane Schuler and her husband Robert Schuler.
Born and raised in Cambridge Jim attended Longfellow and Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. Most vivid memories are his school years in Cambridge where he formed many relationships who are still his dearest friends today. Following his graduation, he attended SMU (UMass Dartmouth) and graduated from the Electrical Engineering Program. He loved hanging out at Pete’s Corner playing cards and hanging out with friends.
Jim loved our summers as a family in Manomet, MA. On the last day of school, we would all pile into the station wagon eating fresh baked bread from the North End and oranges from the market. Days and nights on the beach with friends swimming, boating, playing cards. He loved the way his parents entertained the neighborhood with a spaghetti dinner in their yard. He loved ice fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee. Jim always loved to have a good time, whether that was cooking for family and friends or visiting local restaurants. Jim’s love for the Dallas Cowboys and Neil Young, was something that we all couldn’t understand, but he didn’t care, every year he thought Dallas was going to be the one to will it all.
Jim left us way to young and with that leaves much sadness with his family and friends. We ask that everyone remembers Jim, tell a good story, he would love that. We will be holding a Private Family Service in his honor at a later date, but if you would like to donate in his memory, please make it to the Salvation Army or to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children. To ALL his dear friends who were always there for him, we thank you.
