James M. Hardy Sr.

Hardy, James M., Sr. of Weymouth, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 11, 2022. 

James grew up in the South End and graduated from Boston High School.  He was a proud Army Veteran and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era.  James worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier before he began his career as a Boston Firefighter.  James dedicated 32 years of his life to the Boston Fire Department and won the John E. Fitzgerald Medal award for bravery.  James was a member of the Weymouth Elks and the Weymouth Eagles.  He enjoyed traveling especially to Florida and Vegas, long walks and spending time by the pool.  James main passion in life was his family and close friends.  He will be remembered for his kind and generous personality.  James will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Beloved father of James M. Hardy, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Hanover and the late Thomas J. Hardy, the late Marie T. Brennan and the late Melissa A. Hardy.  Loving Papa of Cameron, Gavin, Grace, Krysten, Thomas, Abigail, Emma, Vincent and MacKennan.  Cherished great Papa of Jordyn, Layla and Brooklyn.  Caring brother of Catherine A. Hardy and her partner Kenneth Bresnahan of Quincy and the late Robert F. Hardy and the late David Hardy. Former husband of the late Marie T. Hardy Falcione.   Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends, especially Larry Holt and Pat Connolly. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
