Glasheen, James L., Ret. B.F.D. of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, October 13, 2003. Beloved husband of Anna M. (Murray). Loving father of Francis J. Glasheen, Trooper MA State Police of S. Weymouth, Edward J. Glasheen, Lt. B.F.D. of Quincy and Judith Ciardi of Weymouth. Devoted grandfather of 7 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. , WOLLASTON Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, W. Quincy. Mr. Glasheen was educated in the Boston School System. He previously worked as an investigator with the Boston Fire Department and was appointed on January 29, 1947 and assigned to Rescue 1. He was later promoted and assigned as an Aide to the Deputy Chief on November 24, 1965. He was transferred to Engine 22 in the South End on 4/19/50 to Engine 17 in Dorchester on 3/18/59 and then to Ladder 8 on 9/1/65. He retired from the department on October 1, 1977 after 30 years of service with the BFD. Late member of Boston Firefighters Society of St. Florian, The Boston Fireman’s Relief Fund and the Boston Fireman’s Mutual Relief Fund. He was a member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus. Former part-time employee of Barcolene of Holbrook from 1989 to 1995 working as a courier. He also worked as a truck driver part-time for several years.Mr. Glashhen was reactivated to serve in the Army during the Korean conflict and served again from 11/27/50 to 7/20/51.
