Deitsch, James “Jim” R. Ret. QPD, of Quincy, passed away January 19, 2012. Beloved husband of Sharon (Pringle) Deitsch of Quincy. Loving father of James W. Deitsch and his wife Margaret of Weymouth, William R. Deitsch and his wife Sheila of Braintree and the late Brian E. Deitsch. Father in Law of Mary Jane Deitsch of Hingham. Brother of Carol Horn and her husband Joseph of Plymouth. Cherished grandfather of Jessica J. and Amanda Rose Deitsch of Hingham, Jennifer Deitsch of West Roxbury, Jilena Dietsch of Braintree, Julie Deitsch of Quincy, and Jamie Deitsch of Weymouth. Jim is also survived by the entire Pringle Family and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was a lifelong resident of Quincy. He was a patrolman for the Quincy Police department for 21 years before retiring in 2002, He also served on the Scituate Police Department for 8 years prior to Quincy. Jim was a member of the Quincy Lodge of Elks, former president of the German American Police Association of Massachusetts and very involved in Quincy Youth Hockey, Quincy Baseball League and President of Babe Ruth Baseball Association as well as coaching for several teams. He enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Naples, FL. Jim will be remembered by his family as being a very outgoing person who was a lot of fun and who was always the life of the party. Most of all Jim’s family was the cornerstone of his life. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. The Deitsch family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude for the care Jim received throughout his illness to the staff at South Suburban Dialysis, Dr. Richard Marquis and Dr. Carlos DaSilva. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:30 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Cremation will follow.
