James “Jim” Donovan

Donovan, James T. “Jim”  of Braintree, passed away suddenly on September 22, 2010. He was 55. Beloved husband of 30 years and best friend to Patricia “Tricia” (Connolly) Donovan of Braintree. Devoted father of James “Jimmy” Donovan and his wife Caitlyn of Hanover, Jacqueline Donovan and Jeffrey Donovan, both of Braintree. Cherished son of the late James and Anne (Fitzgerald) Donovan. Loving brother of Ellen Lawson and her husband Rick of Franklin, Diane Taylor and her husband Donald of FL and Joanne Thomson and her husband Ron of CA. Son-in-law of the late Buddy and Flo Connolly. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and close family and friends.  Jim was born in Boston and lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Braintree. He worked as an engineer for the Suffolk County Courthouse for 32 years, retiring only a few weeks ago and also for CB Richard Ellis for over 25 years. Jim enjoyed playing the guitar, walking on Nantasket Beach and vacationing with his family at Squam Lake, NH. His family describes him as a hard working, loving man with a great sense of humor. He was especially looking forward to his role of Papa to his expected, first grandchild. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Sunday 2 – 6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:45AM on Monday, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church at 11:30 AM. Donations in memory of James may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 1309 Beacon St., Brookline, MA 024469918.
