James. J. M. Smith Jr.

Smith, James J.  M., Jr. of Hingham formerly of Milton and Braintree, died April 27, 2014.

Beloved husband of 56 years of Barbara J. (Oakes) Smith of Hingham.  Loving father of James Smith and his wife Ann of Worcester, Anne Chetwynd and her husband Gregory of Reading, Edward Smith and his wife Patricia of Norwell, Mark Smith and his wife Cheryl of Norwell and Sheila Hevey and her husband Gregg of Hopedale.  Dear brother of Charles Smith and his wife Barbara of Quincy, Anne Scott of Scituate and the late Mary Davis, Gerard Smith, Paul Smith, Rev. Richard Smith and Ellen Richardson. Cherished “Papa” of 16 grandchildren. 

James was a proud member of 45 years of the IBEW Local 103 and the McKeon Post. James proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He loved traveling, baseball and spending time with his grandchildren at the beach.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Helen’s Church, Norwell at 10 AM. Burial in Braintree Cemetery, Braintree.
