James J. Kirby, Jr.

Kirby, James J., Jr. of Squantum, died on Saturday, November 13, 2010. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy May (Allsopp) Kirby. Loving father of James J. Kirby, III of Walpole and Susan Petersen of Squantum. Brother of Chester Kirby of Squantum, Danny Kirby of FL and Eileen Walsh of Weymouth. Cherished grandfather of Kristie McCarthy of Holbrook, Nicole Blongiewicz of N. Andover and Thomas Petersen of Squantum. Great grandfather of Lilly Ann and James McCarthy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. James was an honorably discharged veteran of two wars. He served with the Army during WWII and with the Air Force during Korea. He worked for many years as a foreman in the mailing room for the Boston Globe. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 10 – 11 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery with full military honors at 1:30 PM.
