James Harkins

Harkins, James A. of Hull, died December 4, 2011. The beloved husband of Margaret (Grimes) Harkins of Hull. Stepfather of William Wanberg and his fiancee Marianne Anastasi of Hull. Grandfather of David Wanberg of Hull and Kristen Wanberg of NH. He is also survived by 2 great grandchildren. James was born and raised in Needham. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Harkins worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jamaica Plain for more than 30 years retiring back in 1995. He enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox, but the main focus of his life was his wife Margaret. He was a devoted husband and stepfather. A true gentleman who will be remembered for his compassion and devotion to his family. Jim will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have known him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 3-6pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday morning prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 10 AM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 or to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
