Mr. James M. Halpin, Retired Captain of Weymouth Fire Department passed away on October 10, 2024, at the age 98.
Born in Quincy, a son of the late John J. and Mary M. (Kelly) Halpin, Jim had lived in Weymouth for many years. He enjoyed sailing and just loved being on the ocean. He was a proud World War II veteran serving with the United States Navy. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Beloved husband of the late Shirley H. (Ouellet) Halpin.
Father of James M. Halpin, Jr. and his wife, Annie, of Colorado.
Brother of the late Joseph H. Halpin and his wife, Laraine of Weymouth and the late John D. Halpin and his late wife Barbara. Grandfather of Chandra Hawthorne and her husband, Jesse of Texas. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and caregivers ,Jackie, Michael, Bob, Abby, Lisa and Patricia.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, October 24th, from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A - Bicknell Square).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Friday, October 25th, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, 632 Bridge Street North Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061.
