James G. Garner of North Weymouth, died June 17, 2020.
James was employed as the Superintendent of Mechanical Maintenance for the MBTA for many years. Upon retirement from the MBTA he worked as a pipe fitter for Local #537. As a life long resident of Weymouth, James served his community through many roles and organizations, including Little League Baseball, High School Booster’s Club, Appropriations Committee, CCD Teacher, Eucharistic Minister, and the St. Vincent DePaul Society, presiding as President for several years. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.
Beloved husband of Maureen (Carr) Garner of Weymouth. Devoted father of Gerard Garner and his wife Nancy of East Bridgewater, Ed Garner and his wife Jeanne of Carver, Amy Garner and her companion the late Robert Hardy of Weymouth, John Garner and his wife Linda of Weymouth, Timothy Garner and his wife Jean of Easton and Maureen Silverleib and her husband Adam of Sharon. Loving brother of the late Robert and Richard Garner. Cherished “Pa and Ga” of 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
