James F. Mcinnis

McInnis, James Francis, 93 a long time resident of Hingham Massachusetts, died peacefully November 30, 2014, at his home in Linden Ponds. 

Born September 30, 1921 the son of the late Francis and Mary  (Lawton) McInnis, he grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School for Boys in 1940. In 1941, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After serving twenty years he retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1961.  James owned and operated the Dairy Barn in Randolph for several years, during which time he managed the restaurant at Jordan Marsh and then the food services at Carmichael Hall for Tufts University.  James was a licensed pilot and loved to fly. He also had a variety of interests, which included sail boats, cars, and planes. 

He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play ice hockey and loved his Boston sports teams.  As a resident at Linden Ponds, he really looked forward to his card games and especially enjoyed showing off his winnings.  There was no better storyteller than James and he was always eager to share a joke.   He was a great husband and dad who will be dearly missed by all. 

James is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rose (Kelley)McInnis, his six children James Jr. and his wife Eileen of Scituate, Martin and his wife Franny of Hingham, Maureen McInnis of Raleigh, NC, Rosanne Fitzmaurice and her husband Edmund of Darien, CT, Michael and his wife Karen of Hingham, and Melissa McInnis of Hingham, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves his siblings, Martina Andersen of Lexington, Joseph McInnis of Duxbury, Virginia Seaver of Quincy, Frances Donovan of Littleton and the late Catherine Campbell. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.

Donations in memory of James may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA, 02472.
