James F. Hyland, Iii

James F. Hyland, III, age 68, died peacefully at home on June 21, 2016.

Beloved husband of 41 years to Carol Hyland, he was the son of the late James F. Hyland, II and the late Ruth Haywood. Jim was an amazing father to Timothy J. Hyland of South Weymouth, James F. Hyland, IV of Randolph, Keri Talbot and her husband Cap of Falmouth and Christine Dahlstrom and her husband Joe of Hanover and his “Lucky 7” grandchildren, Monica, Angela, Ricky, Sonny, Tyler, Sara and Cameron James. He was a devoted brother to the late Brian Hyland, the late Sean Haywood, Mark Haywood of Middleboro and Kathleen Ralph of Plymouth and a loving uncle to Dylan and Richie Ralph.

Jimmy grew up in Quincy and enlisted as a Marine at age 17. From 1966-1967 CPL James F. Hyland was with the 1st Bridge Co., 7th Engineer BN in the Vietnam War. When he came home from the war he met Carol, the love of his life. They raised their family in South Weymouth. Jimmy was employed at Pneumatic Scale for 26 years until they closed their doors. From there he worked for Masonneilan for 16 years until he retired.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of traveling, his high and tight red haircuts, and his beautifully maintained yard. No one enjoyed Chinese food and steak on a Sunday like Jimmy. He will mostly be remembered as a proud Marine who loved this country. His presence will be missed at patriotic parades and his yearly Vietnam reunions.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 7 PM.

Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree will be private.
