James F. “Jim” Harris of South Weymouth and Port St. Lucie, Florida died peacefully at home on October 5th, 2021.
Loving husband of Marie (Shea) Harris, they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Prior to Weymouth, Jim had lived in Hingham and Milton for many years. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York, son of the late George “Jack” Harris and Mary (Roell) Harris, Jim was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School, Niagara County Community College and Rowan College in Glassboro, New Jersey.
Jim is survived by his brother John “Jack” Harris and his wife Linda of North Tonawanda, NY, his sister Maryann Balling and her husband, Kenneth, of Bear Lake, NY, brother-in-law of Valerie Dalton of Braintree, MA and Phillip Shea and his wife, Ellen of Randolph, MA. Jim is also survived by 14 loving nieces and nephews.
Jim retired from a position as a Project Manager at Fidelity in Boston. Some of his fondest memories are from his experience as a teacher, cross country coach and basketball coach in Ocean City, New Jersey. Jim loved the game of basketball and the competition. He completed the Boston Marathon, in addition to three other marathons, he was an avid golfer enjoying time spent with his friends at South Shore Country Club and Weathervane Golf Club.
Always willing to lend a helping hand, Jim’s hobbies included woodworking projects for family and friends and time spent as a volunteer for Big Brother Association and Habitat for Humanity. He was a devoted Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan and basketball’s March Madness, connecting with friends and family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).
Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM.
The family is very grateful to the care team at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Norwell VNA and Hospice. See
