James C. McStravick of Weymouth, died April 14, 2015 at the age of 80.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. For over 30 years, he worked as a linesman for Boston Edison, retiring in 1993. He will be remembered for his quick Irish wit and his sense of humor. He was always ready with a joke or a song. When his children were young, he enjoyed coaching baseball and was a long time member of the Wemouth Knights of Columbus. He was an intensely loyal man who always stood up for the underdog.
Beloved husband of Carol J. (Carter) McStravick. Loving father of Neil McStravick of Sarasota, FL, Jane and husband Dr. Robert Vanderlin of Norwell and John McStravick and wife Kerry-Anne of Weymouth. Devoted grandfather of Hilary and Owen Wiggins; and Autumn, Bailey and Charli McStravick. Loving brother of Janet Dorn and husband Al of SD, Ruth Doyle and fiance Frank Almeida of Dorchester, and the late Joseph McStravick. Cousin of Marie Keefe of Westwood. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, 234 Pleasant St., Weymouth Friday at 9:30 AM. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
