James A. “Jimmy” Salemme

Salemme, James A. “Jimmy” of Rockland, formerly of Weymouth, died peacefully December 4, 2013. 

Jimmy was born and raised in Weymouth, MA where he continued to live and raise his family before recently moving to Rockland.  Jimmy worked at the Quincy shipyard and later became an employee of the Department of Public Works in Weymouth.  He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.  He was a life member and a Grand Venerable of the Sons of Italy in Weymouth.  He will be remembered for his warm heart and large sense of humor. 

Beloved companion of 19 years to Ruth Woodbury of Rockland.  Devoted father of Margaret Salemme of Rockland and Joseph Salemme of Maine.  Caring Papa of Lauren Salemme of Pembroke, Joseph Salemme Jr. of Bridgewater and Kristie Arujo of Marshfield.  Great grandfather of Caleb, Austin, Matteo, Kiley Rose and Jona.  Former husband of Rose (Perrone) Salemme.  Youngest and sole survivor of 11 children.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.
