Holcomb Sr., James A., of Squantum,73, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2013. Beloved husband of the late MaryAlice (Mulhearn) Holcomb for 50 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles A. and Ruby M. (Clifton) Holcomb. Loving father of Susan A. Poulin and her husband Keith of Belchertown, James A. Holcomb, Jr. and his wife Karen of North Quincy, Patricia A. Holcomb and her fiancé Mark of Brockton, and Rebecca “Becky” Andrews and her husband David of Tewksbury. Brother of Judy Ipock and her husband Joe and Pamela Wyrick and her husband Jinks all of Missouri and the late Charles “David” Holcomb. Cherished Grampa of Scott, Michael, Lynne, Gregory, James III, Andrea “Anna”, and Mark. James was also an uncle to many nephews and nieces. James also leaves behind his fuzzy kid, his dog Buttons.
James was born in Nevada, Missouri on April 9, 1940. He was a graduate of Carthage High School class of 1958. James proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. He also worked for Raytheon from 1979-1995 as a government property administrator. James worked for Wear Guard in Norwell as an accountant before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Retired Warrant Officers’ Association and Raytheon Retirees Association. James enjoyed talking on his citizen band radio prior to the computer age. James was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Most of all James loved his family and spending time with them. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday, Aug. 13 3:00PM – 6:30PM with a funeral service to be celebrated at 6:30 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Interment will be at a later date in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
