Harkin, James A. of Quincy November 7, 2006. Devoted husband of Louise (Connolly) Harkin of Quincy. Beloved father of Cathy and her husband Tom Joyce of Weymouth, Mary Lou and her husband David Hogan of Braintree, Daniel Harkin of Quincy, Carol Harkin-McElligott and her husband J.P. of Weymouth, Theresa and her husband Stephen O’Sullivan of Weymouth, and the late Ann Marie Harkin. Cherished grandfather of Kristen, Matthew, and Ryan Joyce, Brenna, Brendan, and Kaileigh Hogan, and Shawn McElligott. Loving brother of Kathleen Harkin of Dorchester, Ann Doherty of Medford, John Harkin, Paddy Harkin, and Lily McCallion all of Donegal, Ireland and Philip Harkin of England. Dear brother-in-law of Rose Harkin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Friday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Mr. Harkin may be made to Joslin Juvenile Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215. Jim was a member of the Irish Navy and Gaelic Football in his younger years. He enjoyed sports and the New England teams. In September of this year, Jim celebrated 56 years in the United States. He loved playing cards with friends and especially his grandsons. He was passionate about his garden and was known for giving away his delicious garden tomatoes around the neighborhood. Jim was very proud of his family.
