Epps-Reid, Jacqueline L. “Jackie” of Quincy, formerly of Roxbury, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family after a long illness on June 02, 2010. She was 80. Beloved wife of the late Charles J. Reid. Devoted mother of Julian Epps Jr., of Roxbury, Steven W. Epps and his wife Ruth of Abington and Jocelyn A. Epps-Heisser of Roxbury. Step-mother of Charles “Chuckie” Reid, Jr. and his sister Donna. Loving sister of Gloria Ellis of North Caronlina. Cherished Nana of Derick Epps, Jacquelyn Haynes, William and Serena Epps, Jacinda, Charlotte and Ronnie Smith and 11 great-grandchilren. Jackie was born in Boston and raised in Roxbury. she graduated from Girls High in Roxbury. She has been a Quincy resident for the last 24 years. She worked for the telephone company as a customer service representative for 30 years, starting when it was Ma Bell and then later Nynex. She retired 10 years ago. Jackie also worked as a barmaid at various establishments such as the Patio, Estelle’s, Walkers Lounge and the Pink Squirrel in the 60’s and 70’s. She enjoyed bowling and playing the piano. Jackie also liked to play poker with family and friends and taking trips to Foxwoods. Jackie’s main passion was always spending time with her family and friends. She also cherished her cat Monk. She will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the wake Friday, June 11between the hours of 4 – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home June 12th at 9:15AM, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock Street, Quincy at 10 AM. Interment at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jacqueline’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
