Jack Shadduck, 33, of Braintree, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2022. Jack had been a quadriplegic since age 13 from a rare neurological condition, Transverse Myelitis. He was the team captain for the Jackhammers, a wiffleball team in support of the Travis Roy Foundation for spinal cord injuries. Because of the significant support led by Jack and his team, the tournament championship trophy will be named for him.
For the past 20 years, Jack met his own spinal cord disability with courage and a wonderful sense of humor. He recently began his own career as a “sit down comic” performing comedy acts throughout New England and at venues such as Giggles Comedy Club and the Wilbur Theater. Jack enjoyed staying active and was a loyal member of Boston’s hardcore music community, where he built lasting friendships and established a group for mental health support.
Beloved son of Joseph Shadduck and his wife, Kathy, of Braintree, and Marie Shadduck and her partner Dale Valicenti of Braintree. Loving brother of Craig Shadduck and his fiancé, Shannon Casey, and Caroline Shadduck. Godson of Barry Gilfeather and Mary Theresa St. Clare. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jack is predeceased by his grandparents; retired QPD, John Gilfeather and his wife Barbara, and Earl Shadduck and his wife Beatrice.
A very special thank you for the love and support from the Rivers Family and all of the devoted caregivers, many who were just teenagers when they began helping with his care. They assisted with his care with a maturity beyond their ages. The Shadduck’s will be forever grateful for their support.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours 12-4 PM on Sunday, January 9, 2022 in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life service shall be held at a later date. In loving memory of Jack, please consider a donation in his name to
The Travis Roy Foundation.
