Isabella G. (Russell) Coates, of Westwood, formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Stone Rehabilitation in Newton at the age of 87.
Isabella was born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on February 21, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Matthew and Genevieve (Findlay) Russell. Isabella was raised in New Brunswick and attended local schools. As a young professional, Isabella worked as a secretary and then moved to Dorchester, MA where she raised her family.
While raising her family, Isabella was a home typist, and then worked at John Hancock in Boston for decades as an executive assistant. She also belonged to a bowling league and book club, in which she was an avid reader. She loved traveling and cruising, always making sure she took a yearly trip back to Canada to visit her siblings and friends.
Isabella was the beloved wife of the late Ronald Coates, with whom she shared many loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Lisa Burrows and her husband William of Pembroke, Heather Montalto and her husband Paul of Scituate, Krista Provenzano of Middleboro, and Scott Coates and his late wife Ann of East Bridgewater. Isabella was the loving grandmother of nine and the loving great grandmother of two.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Thursday, November 7, 2024, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Gregory Parish,Dorchester, at 10 AM.
Services will conclude with interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Isabella's name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Clinical & Translational Research Unit (ACTRU) and mailed to Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114 or made online by clicking here; please be sure to indicate that the gift is a tribute gift in memory of Isabella.
