Shea, Irene L. (Hnath) of Quincy, formerly of Hyde Park, age 85 March 10, 2009. Irene was the daughter of John and Anna Hnath of Minneapolis MN. She was the wife of the late John T. “Jack” Shea. Irene and Jack met in Arlington VA while she was serving in the Marine Corps during WWII. Irene treasured her strong family and her faith. She was a long-time member of the parish of St. Pius X in Hyde Park and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis (SFO) for over fifty years. Irene loved listening to the music of the 30’s and 40’s, especially when Jack played piano for her. More recently she enjoyed playing scrabble with friends and family. Mother of Jeanne and David Hardy, and Dianne and Bernie Donnelly all of Hingham, Larry and Leah Shea of Quincy, Rick and Gitte Shea of Cohasset, Jack and Beth Shea of Reading. She loved her grandchildren Eva, Matt, Greg, Meghan, Ryan, Patrick, Michael, Ben, Shea Spencer, Erik, Julie, Emilie, Katelin, Michael, Brian, Chris and the late Tessa. Irene is also lovingly survived by 10 great-grandchildren. Sister of Vera Thorsen of FL, Robert Hnath of CA, Ann Razwick, Margaret Hayney and George Hnath all of MN. Donations in memory of Irene may be made to The Capuchin Franciscans Province of St. Mary, 210 West 31 St. New York, NY 10001-2876. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Saturday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Friday 4- 8 PM. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
