Irene Gonsalves

Irene Gonsalves of Boston, passed away September 19, 2015.

Loving and dearly loved mother of Toussaint and LaFleur Gonsalves. Cherished daughter of the late Isador and Sylvia Hershoff. Beloved sister of the late Leonard Hershoff and adored niece of the late Harold Lamb; she was survived by her first cousins, Lisa Lapuck and Lawrence Lamb.

For the past 40 years she was a minister and one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She will be remembered for her strong faith, dedicated love, and loyalty to her God and Father, Jehovah. Most noted by her spiritual brothers and sisters was her boldness and genuine love for neighbor in her preaching and teaching activities in the ministry.

She will be remembered for her kind manner, always with a smile. Independent, yet sensitive, she loved all animals, especially her cats. She longed for the time when illnesses such as hers would be a thing of the past, when her vibrancy and vitality for life could be fully realized.  Irene loved life and was a survivor until the end. She surrounded herself with beautiful things, anticipating the time when the whole earth would be a thing of beauty; when all creation would “find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace” – Psalm 37:11.

Irene’s home was decorated with her artistic creations that she enjoyed so much.  She created beautiful jewelry, loved to shop and always looked stunning in her colorful matching outfits.  She loved to cook, dance and entertain friends and family in her home.

Known mostly by her close friends and relatives was her original sense of humor, creating cartoons and funny cards and relating funny stories. When she laughed, she laughed from her heart, with her whole soul – just as she lived her life.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial on October 3, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 29 Parkman Street, Dorchester, MA 02122.
