Hugh S. Gomes, Sr.

Gomes, Hugh S., Sr. of Quincy March 26, 2008. Devoted husband of Muriel L. (McGee) Gomes of Quincy. Beloved father of Claire and her husband Paul Messina of Randolph, and H. Stephen Gomes and his wife Judith of Abington. Cherished grandfather of Michael Gomes, Scott Gomes, Lisa Rodriguez-Doherty, Lauren Rodriguez-Webber, and Michael Messina. Also survived by 8 great grandchildren. Hugh graduated from Boston Mechanics Art School. He served in the US Navy during WWII. For over 50 years, Hugh worked for the Boston Record American and then with the Herald American in Boston as a newspaper pressman. Hugh was a past President of Boston Newspaper Printing Pressman Union Local # 3. He loved politics and was one hell of a Democrat. Hugh was also a great union supporter. Hugh enjoyed spending time with his family and he loved his girls. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Saturday at 10:15 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Joseph’s Church, Quincy at 11:15 AM. Visiting hours Friday 4 – 8 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Hugh S.
