Hiltrud K. “Hilda” Keaney

Hiltrud K. “Hilda” (Täuber) Keaney, 86, of South Weymouth, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep on December 15, 2017.

Beloved mother to her daughter’s Karen Keaney of South Boston and Heidi Barclay of Wenham, MA. She is predeceased by her beloved daughter Nancy, and beloved and devoted son Thomas E. of  South Weymouth. Also predeceased by Edward Keaney (father of her children), devoted daughter-in-law, Lindsay Keaney as well as three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Rudolf and Katharina Täuber and predeceased by her sisters, Erika Birkholz and Helga Hofmann, all from Germany. Her son Thomas was born in Bad Kissingen, Germany.

Hiltrud was born and raised in Bad Kissingen, Northern Bavaria, Germany. She was very proud of her German heritage and maintained friendships with many of her school friends as well as her sister’s children, Anja Hunter (Birkholz), Mark Birkholz, Susanna Hofmann, and Brigitte Hofmann. At age 15, Hiltrud started a three year apprenticeship in a famous fashion house in Bad Kissingen. She became a very accomplished Seamstress at the famous Priscilla’s of Boston on Newbury Street when she arrived in the United States at age 21; even completing the bodice of Princess Grace of Monaco’s wedding dress. She also worked on various wedding gowns for the royal family in England.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, December 21, 10-11:30 AM.

A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11:30 AM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Burial will be private.
