Herbert J. O’Neil

O’Neil, Herbert J. “Joe” of Quincy, died June 16, 2014. 

Beloved husband of Lillian (Kelley) O’Neil of Quincy. Loving father of Laurie McGuire of Quincy, Joseph F. O’Neil and his wife Liz of Quincy, and Kevin O’Neil of Blackstone. Cherished brother to Betty Buckley of South Boston. Proud “Papa” to Matthew and Jessica McGuire and Matthew, Nicole, and Dylan O’Neil. Also uncle to many special nieces and nephews.

Joe proudly served on the USS San Diego in the Pacific during WWII with the United States Navy. He was DAV Chapter 22 in South Boston, Saunders Post American Legion, MBTA Retirees, and a Plankowner on the USS San Diego. The light of his life was his family. He and his wife were married 63 years and his grandchildren were his world. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM prior to the funeral mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe may be made to Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
