Herbert Ira Kirshnit

Kirshnit, Herbert Ira of Quincy, died on December 6, 2014. 

Herb was an artist, and he attended the Worcester School of Art.  He was a talented sculptor and painter and was always working on a variety of creative projects.  Herb was a member of the Quincy Art Association and participated in the annual Quincy Arts Fest, frequently winning top prizes for his driftwood collages. He was also very active in the South Shore YMCA.  Up until very recently, Herb could be seen working out there several mornings per week.  He volunteered at the YMCA for many years, helping people learn how to use the Nautilus equipment. Gregarious and social, Herb made friends wherever he went.  He had a genuine interest and curiosity about other people and made a point of remembering everyone’s name and really getting to know all the people with whom he had contact. Herb loved the ocean and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his home on Cape Cod.  He was a proud W.W.II Navy Veteran. 

The beloved husband of 62 years to Charlotte (Krebs) Kirshnit of Quincy. Father of Laurence W. Kinnard of Westborough and  Carol E. Kirshnit of Davis, CA and the late David I. Kirshnit. Brother of Sydny Kirshnit of NY, NY, Doris Maren of Newton and the late William A. Kirshnit. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Kevin and Ryan Kinnard, Joshua, Eli and Adam Siegel.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, December 11th from 11-1pm in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY,  followed by a funeral service  Thursday at 1 PM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy.
