Herbert F. Johnson

Johnson, Herbert F., 84, of Weymouth, passed peacefully on August 20, 2018, after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his loving wife Sheila (Grant) Johnson of 55 years and her two children, Cheryl (Johnson) Dowgiallo and her husband Glenn of Pembroke, and James Johnson of Pembroke. Loving brother of John Johnson and his wife Paula of Holbrook, the late Barbara Bregoli and his twin, the late Claire Connors of Baldwinsville, NY. Grandfather of Jillian MacQueen and her husband Derrek of Bridgewater, Daniel Coveney and his partner Laura Levesque of Whitman, Julianne Johnson of East Bridgewater, Jake Johnson of Rockland, Matthew Dowgiallo of Cambridge and Meghan Dowgiallo of Andover. Great grandfather to 5. He was also an uncle to several nieces and nephews in MA, CT, upstate New York and a nephew in Arkansas.

Herbert was born and raised in Quincy, the son of the late Herbert and Clara (DeCoste) Johnson. He lived in Weymouth for the past 53 years. Herbert served two tours in the US Army during the Berlin Crisis and after returning home was employed by the Boston Gas Company in Braintree for more than 40 years. He loved traveling, camping, boating, fishing, going to the casino and lottery scratch tickets after morning breakfast. He enjoyed animals, especially dogs, and will also be missed by his dog Pedro.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
