Helen U. Voelkel

Voelkel, Helen U. (Markiewicz) of South Weymouth, passed away September 7, 2018. She was born in Cambridge, MA to the late Leo and Helen Markiewicz. Helen attended Saint Hedwig’s Polish School and Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School. She had a passion for her job cooking for the nuns at the Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy, working in the cafeteria of both Atlantic Jr. High and North Quincy High School.  Helen was driven by faith, family and food where all 3 of those elements were the circle of her love.  She was a caretaker and homemaker to all. 

Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Edward F. Voelkel. Loving mother of Mark Voelkel and his wife Theresa of Marshfield, Ursula Ceurvels and her husband Richard of Weymouth, Christine Kenney and her husband Richard of Hanover, Ellen Crosier and her husband Bruce of Shrewsbury, Jean Zaleski and her late husband John, and Marie Voelkel of Weymouth. Cherished grandmother of John Voelkel, Marisa MacLellan, Brian Voelkel, Jimmy Ceurvels, Jimmy Kenney, Tommy Ceurvels, Jennifer Cheever, Laura Kenney, Eddie Crosier, Andrew Zaleski, Michelle Crosier, Emily Zaleski and 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Mary McGovern and her brother in law C. Edward McGovern.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.
