Helen T. McHugh (Ryan), a longtime Weymouth resident, passed away peacefully at the age of 93. She was born in South Boston on January 1, 1931, to the late Mary and Andrew Ryan. Helen lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of everyone she met with her beautiful smile, kindness, and sense of humor.
Helen was the beloved wife of the late Joseph B. McHugh and former wife of the late Hugh Fidler. She was a loving and dedicated mother to Susan Fidler of Mansfield, Nancy Reynolds and her husband Brian of Abington, and Maureen Gibbons and her husband Ed of Kingston. Helen was the proud Nana of six grandchildren: Curtis, Corey, and Casey Gibbons, and Conor, Kristen, and Patrick Reynolds; and the proudest Great Nana to Avery, Riley, and Beau. Helen was predeceased by her nine siblings; James Ryan, Mary Myette, Agnes Mace, Andrew "Gus" Ryan, John Ryan, Margaret "Peggy" Ryan, William Ryan, Alice Ryan, and Joseph "Joe" Ryan. She leaves behind a legacy of memories that will be cherished by her many nieces and nephews who she loved so dearly. A special thank you to Larry the Mailman whose daily visits brightened her day!
Throughout her life, Helen was a dedicated employee of New England Telephone. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. Helen was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots but she truly loved her Celtics. She was so happy to see them win it all this year.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, September 3rd from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So.
