Helen L. King Gudmand

Helen L. (Emerson) King Gudmand, of Hingham, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children early Monday morning, September 24, 2018, she was 87.

Born in Sturgis Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Hannah (Lincoln) Emerson.  She was a graduate of Sturgis High School. After marriage she became a stay at home mom to her four children.  She had a wonderful life with her husband Joe and became a Certified Travel Consultant after his untimely death in 1978.  Helen was a domestic and worldwide traveler herself, visiting all 50 states and many destinations overseas with her second husband, Lee.  She enjoyed walking, spending time outdoors, playing bridge and mahjong.  Helen’s greatest joys came from time spent with her family.

Helen was the beloved wife of the late Joseph B. King, and to the late  Leo “Lee” E. Gudmand; devoted mother of Pamela Halloran and her husband Dennis of Foley, AL, Gary King and his wife Janis of Midland, TX, Deborah Gudmand of Duxbury, MA,  Johannah Phillips and her husband Randy of Gulf Shores, AL; stepmother of Kristine Coughlin and her husband Daniel of Duxbury,MA,  Erik Gudmand and his wife Elizabeth of Hull, MA,  Caryl Sullivan and her husband Brian of Hingham, MA,  Peter Gudmand and his wife Lynn of Concord, MA, and Susan Mahoney  and Joe Suppa of Pembroke, MA. She was sister of E. Keith Emerson and his wife Sue of TN, Marian Hair of MI and her late husband Robert, and the late Donald Emerson. Also survived by 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, September 28th from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM, MA. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29th at 11 AM at the Hingham Congregational Church, Hingham, MA. Interment will be private at a later date.
