Helen L. Grazioso

Helen (Gavaza) Grazioso, age 93, of Quincy, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, surrounded by her loving husband of 70 years and her five children.

Daughter of the late George V. and Josephine Gavaza. Helen was predeceased by her siblings – Victor Gavaza, John (Bud) Gavaza and Betty Isbell.

Helen was born in Quincy and attended Quincy Public Schools. She raised her five children in the Wollaston Hill area. For the past three years she has been a resident of the William B. Rice Eventide Home along with her husband Alfred.

Helen is survived by her husband Alfred Grazioso; her daughter Holly Powers and her husband Warren of Norfolk and Naples, FL; Ken Grazioso and his wife Melody of Gainesville, FL; Mary-Ellen Schwartz and her husband Ed of Carey, NC; Al Grazioso and his wife Cathie of Quincy; and Liz Barry and her husband Tim of Raleigh, NC. They are also the proud grandparents of nine grandchildren.

Helen loved her family more than life itself. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was an accomplished amateur figure roller-skater. She loved gardening, dancing and politics. But, more important to her was her faith in God. Helen was the founder of the Cranch Hill Association, past chairman of the South Shore American Cancer Society, past member of the Quincy Catholic Women’s Club, and St. Ann’s MaryAnn’s.

Helen and her husband Alfred celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past February. They were married on February 14, 1946 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Quincy. A Mass of Celebration was performed for Al and Helen and attended by family and friends. The Celebrant was the Most Reverend James Hawker, a close family friend.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in St. John’s Church, Quincy. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
