Helen K. Menchin

Helen (Drury) Menchin, of North Weymouth, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 in Fort Myers, FL.

She is survived by her beloved husband of over 54 years, Warren “Butch” Menchin of North Weymouth; loving mother of Debbie Menchin & her fiancé Jay Nolan of North Weymouth; Susan Smith & her husband Joseph of Canton; and Julie Burke & her husband Michael of Rockland.

Best Nana to Ashlee (Menchin) Taylor and her husband Derek of Norton; Chad, Ethan and Brett Menchin; Danny, Jacob and Sean Smith; and Evan and Avery Burke. Great Nana to Aryssa Harrison and Owen Taylor. Nana in Heaven to her grandchildren: Grace, Thomas and Connor Smith.

Helen is survived by her siblings  Nancy Drury of Portland, OR; John Drury and his wife Patricia of Canton;  Robert Drury and his wife Bernie of Quincy; William Drury of Quincy; the late Thomas Drury; and the late Marylou Drury. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Helen grew up in Jamaica Plain and was a devoted daughter of the late John and Christine Drury, with whom she continued to visit weekly after she was married. These visits included trips to Brigham’s or Galway House and shopping at the Dedham Mall. Helen graduated from Jamaica Plain High School and was a proud graduate of The Boston School of Business Education alongside her best friend Pat (LaFreniere) Kalish. She worked at Talbots in Hingham as a customer service representative, where she met many lifelong friends.

She was the center of her daughters’ world. She loved to shop whether it be out at the stores or on QVC. She was generous and fun and was a wonderful friend. She loved getting her hair and nails done and loved when her sister Nancy, daughters or grandchildren could join. Helen loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Italy and Ireland,  but was just as happy to sit at Wessagussett Beach with a Dunkins Iced Coffee.

She and Butch took many trips in their retirement including Hawaii and Alaska and ended up becoming snowbirds in Fort Myers, FL. While in Florida Helen was in the Red Hat Society. In Weymouth, she loved to lunch with friends, new and old, and enjoyed spending time at the Whipple Senior Center.
