Doran, Helen K. (Brazel) of Hingham, formerly of Quincy and Braintree, died surrounded by her family on November 19, 2023.
Helen was a strong and independent woman who was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada and moved to Boston by herself as a young adult. There she met her beloved husband, Joe, and started their family. She was a caring stay at home mother for her six children and they brought much joy to her life. Helen’s passion was her family. She loved hosting family gatherings and creating memories that we all cherish. She especially loved Christmas and birthdays and was known for her elaborate gift presentations. She sent cards to everyone for special occasions, but also just to show she was thinking of you. There was nothing like getting a handwritten note from Helen with an envelope covered in stickers.
Helen kept beautiful gardens of both vegetables and flowers. Her backyard plantings and flowers were a showcase for the neighborhood. Helen was a talented quilter, who made elaborate quilts and Christmas tree skirts for her family and friends. She was also an amazing baker who made delicious desserts for every family event, a favorite being peanut butter balls for Christmas. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club at Sacred Heart Church in Quincy for many years. Helen had a great sense of humor, was a caring and loving woman who was always interested in what her family was doing. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Joseph Doran, Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Braintree, Ann Sterling and her husband Paul of West Newbury, Barbara Murphy and her husband John Kyger of Hanover, Paul Doran, and his wife Lori of York, ME, Lynne Bucklen of Hingham, and Kristine Lang and her husband Robert of Marshfield.
