Helen Theresa (Foley) Fennelly

Helen Theresa (Foley) Fennelly, of Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the age of 74.

Beloved wife of Mike (Mickey) Fennelly, they were married for 56 years and together in life for 60 years. Helen met the love of her life when she was just 14. They dated for four years and were engaged after she graduated from high school. When they met with the priest to talk about getting married - the priest told them she needed a note from her mother because was only 18. 

Loving mother of Michelle Worden and her husband Michael of Abington, Janet Fennelly of Quincy and Jason Fennelly and his wife Cathe of Quincy. Sister of the late Jack Foley and his late wife Roberta, Barbara Hanright and the late Phyllis Lawrence. Sister-in-law to Kevin Fennelly and his wife Dale of New Jersey. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. 

Helen was most proud to be called Grammy by Paul, Jennifer, Michael, Kirsten and Caitlin. She also had a soft spot for her great nephew's Andrew and David of Pennsylvania. Helen loved spending time with her grandchildren cooking, painting nails, doing arts and crafts, or just sitting in the kitchen talking about their days. 

Helen worked for many years at South Boston Savings Bank and then at the City of Boston Credit Union. She could balance a teller’s cash drawer faster than anyone. 

Helen and Mike loved to travel, taking many family vacations over the years. During their later years, Helen and Mike would travel all along the East Coast and especially enjoyed the Smokey Mountains. They also enjoyed going to casinos with cousins Bill and Claire Fennelly out in Arizona, they never had a definite plan for these trips and would drive until they got tired and would find a place to stay.

In 2018 Helen and Mike took the trip of a lifetime to Ireland for their 50th Wedding Anniversary and she loved every minute of their life's adventures together.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, September 9, 2024, 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

Her funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 7 PM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Helen's name to the charitable organization of one's choice.
