Helen Elizabeth (Mahoney) Crowley – long-time resident of Hingham, MA and parishioner at St. Paul’s Parish – passed peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
Helen was born in Somerville, MA on March 1, 1925 to Frank and Elizabeth Mahoney, and was the sister of Ruth Andros Cann. In 1949, Helen Mahoney married John R. Crowley and settled down in Hingham. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Parish community, a longtime member of the Hingham Yacht Club, and the Cohasset Golf Club (where she played with the Ladies Niners). Helen spent years volunteering with the Hingham Public Library, the Hingham Public Schools, and could always be found on Election Day assisting at local polling stations. She was an accomplished Bridge player, and enjoyed playing with friends and family.
Helen is survived by her four children – Peter M. Crowley of Princeton, NJ; Janice L. Crowley of Cohasset, MA; David J. Crowley of Fountain Valley, CA; and Paul G. Crowley of Lincoln University, PA. She was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
