Helen C. Shaw

Shaw, Helen C. (Kostka) a resident of Quincy, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2013 two days before her eighty ninth birthday.

The beloved wife of 64 years to the late John T. Shaw. Daughter of the late Stanislaus Kostka and Katherine (Jamara) Sister of the late Anne (Kostka) Gifford. Devoted mother of Elizabeth J. (Shaw) Forde of Quincy and Marilynne H. (Shaw) Regan and her husband Michael of Long Valley, NJ. Loving grandmother of Lisa, Michelle, Andrew, Simone, David, Jonathan, Shannon and Robert. Great grandmother of Matthew and Jacob. She was affectionately known as Mimi to all her grandchildren. Sister in Law of Peggy Reapsummer of FL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Helen was a portrait artist and an active member for many years of several South Shore Art Associations. She was the recipient of many awards for her artwork, which was displayed in many venues. She taught evening art classes and gave public demonstrations of her craft. Her favorite subjects were her grandchildren. In later years she loved designing beautiful jewelry. Helen will be sadly missed by all those who knew her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy on Thursday 4-8pm.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 10:30am.  Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
