Hedy W. (Palasek) Siedlecki passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2021, just two weeks shy of her 97th birthday.
She was born and raised in the Polish Triangle in Dorchester. Her parents, Frank and Teofila Palasek, were Polish immigrants from whom she learned the value of hard work, family, and faith. She was the sister to three brothers who predeceased her: Chester and his wife Laura, Joseph and his wife Wanda, and John and his wife Evelyn. She was Aunt Hedy to 13 nieces and nephews and great-aunt to many others. Besides her faith, Hedy valued family more than her career or accomplishments. She cherished her extended family and enjoyed celebrations together.
Hedy was often busy in her kitchen or sewing room. She was constantly trying to improve her garden and had a special appreciation for roses. She travelled the world and was fluent in two languages. She was known for telling amusing stories of her life experiences. She remained an independent, single woman until the age of 78 when she became second wife to Joseph Siedlecki (after the passing of his wife, Irene). Hedy and Joe enjoyed ten years of companionship before his passing in 2014. Rather than stepmother, Hedy’s goal was to be a friend to Joe’s daughters: Diane Marshall and her husband David, Lorraine Fitzgerald and her husband, James, and their families.
Her strong spirit, love, and devotion to her family will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 3-5 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
