Hazel B. (Martin) Brown age 79 of Hingham, formerly of E. Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2016 surrounded by her family.
The beloved wife of the late Warren “Butch” E. Brown, Jr., she was the loving mother of Warren E. Brown, III and his wife Regina of Florida, Julie A. Brenton and husband Robert of Plymouth, Laurie A. Griffin and husband David of Hanover, Jennifer M. lambert and husband Keith of Scituate and the late Cheryl J. Cavallo survived by husband Orlando of Pembroke. Adoring Nana to 11 cherished grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Hazel was born in Boston, to the late Mary and Roy Martin, Sr., raised in E. Weymouth where she graduated from Weymouth High School with the class of 1955.
A sweet, loving sister to Roy Martin Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Maine, Marilyn Hassett of Scituate, Helen Lundquist and her late husband Eric of Weymouth, Mary Rose O’Connell and her husband Brian of Pembroke and Thomas Martin and wife Jean of Maine and also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Early years, Hazel worked at the Weymouth Light – Power Company, Weymouth Board of Health, Sears & Roebuck in Quincy and eventually became a devoted homemaker.
Hazel was an accomplished award winning artist that painted beautiful oil paintings and helped create the East Weymouth Civic Association who sponsored several art festivals that Hazel organized which artists from all over the state of Massachusetts participated.
Hazel was a devoted Christian, passionate editorial writer, involved in Weymouth politics, loved traveling to see her family, dancing, spending time with her many friends, sewing and crocheting with her sewing club, arts & crafts, gardening, baking, playing board games with her grandchildren and meaningful hugs.
Visiting hours will be Friday, August 26th, from 4-8 p.m. at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Weymouth. A funeral service will be celebrated at the South Shore Baptist Church, Hingham on Saturday, August 27th at 11 a.m. followed by a burial at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
