Harold “Bromo” Seltzer, Sr. Founder, Bromo’s Appliance Service On Tuesday, July 24, 2007, Harold (Bromo) Seltzer, Sr. (age 74) passed away after a two year long illness, surrounded by his family and loved ones. A wake will be held Sunday, July 29, 2007, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Keohane’s Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170. Funeral services will be held at Saint Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170, on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 10:00 am. Harold will be interred at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 11:30 am with full military honors. Born in 1933, Harold found his way to the Quincy area in service to our country in the U. S. Navy. Harold founded Bromo’s Appliance Service in Quincy in 1971. An avid singer, he was a member of the Braintree Choral Society, Quincy Choral Society, Fine Arts Chorale, and enjoyed singing with the Masterworks Chorale of Lexington. He was a choir member and tenor soloist of many area churches. Fishing, hunting and camping were among his many interests. A Machinist Mate, 1st Class, Harold served our country in the U. S. Navy from January 2, 1953 through December, 1957, aboard the aircraft carriers: USS Kula Gulf CVE 108 USS Leyte CV 32 USS Antietam CV 36 After his Honorable Discharge from full duty he joined the U. S. Naval Reserves, serving our country for over 20 years of “Outstanding and Dedicated Service”, until he retired from the deck of the USS Nautilus at Groton, Connecticut in August of 1993. He is survived by his beloved “bride” of 51+ years, Carol (Deane) Seltzer; his son and best friend, Harold Seltzer, Jr., and his wife, Joanne (Ruane) Seltzer of Quincy; daughters Donna Antonellis of Swansea; Michele Cuddyer of Tampa, Florida; his sister, Bonnie Miles of Evansville, Indiana; loving grandfather of six grandchildren; and devoted friends and support team members, Tina Wilkinson and Joe Mulkern of Quincy. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the International Mesothelioma Program at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, 75 Francis Street, Boston, MA 02115, Attention: David J. Sugarbaker, MD, Chief, Division of Thoracic Surgery. Harold touched a lot of lives, never passing up an opportunity to make someone smile. He was a kind and gentle man; greatly admired by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed. “Fairwinds and Following Seas…….”
