Scanlon, Helen Nancy (Vautrain) of Quincy, died October 1, 2005 peacefully at home with her family after a brief illness. Daughter of the late Arthur and Helen Vautrain. Beloved mother of Helen M. Scanlon of Marlborough. Loving sister of Arthur P. Vautrain of Duxbury, Stuart Vautrain of Acton, CA, Karen Alexander of Natick, and Linda Barcelo of Melbourne, FL. Cherished grandmother of Ian Hamilton of Marlborough. Also survived and beloved by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews: Brian Alexander, Joy Alexander, Scott & Maureen Alexander, Matt Alexander, Melissa Alexander, Mike Alexander, Craig Barcelo, Denise & Mike Fitzgerald, Michele & David Halstead, Nicole Vautrain Huessler, Analiese Huessler, Eliza Huessler, Zachary Huessler, Annette & Steven Madden, Cicely Madden, Paige Madden, Natalie Madden, Gabrielle & Daniel Rutkowski, Marlaina & Wilson Townsend, Julian Townsend, Olivia Townsend, and Paul Vautrain. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON Thursday at 8:00 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 9:00 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday 2 – 4 and 7- 9 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse. She recently retired from Cohasset Knoll Nursing Home in Cohasset where she worked for over 20 years. She was an avid supporter of The Audubon Society, The Sierra Club, and many Wildlife Organizations. She was a member of the Blue Hills Reservation and the New England Aquarium. Nancy loved crafts, especially knitting and was a wonderful gardener. She was also a New England Patriots fan.
