O’Reilly, H. Gordon of Norwell, formerly of Centerville and Hingham November 9, 2007. Beloved husband of the late Mildred I. (Prescott) O’Reilly. Devoted father of H. Gordon O’Reilly, Jr. of Norwell, Nancy Flanagan of Leesburg, VA, Rosemary T. McBride of Hingham, and Steven O’Reilly of Norwell. Loving brother of the late John O’Reilly. Cherished grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Gordon worked in the shipbuilding industry as a template maker for the Navy Shipyard in Boston and General Dynamics in Quincy. Gordon had resided in Norwell, Centerville and Hingham. While residing in Hingham, Gordon was a founding member of Resurrection Church in addition to being a member of the Holy Name Society, a sexton for 15 years, church choir and a boy scout leader. Gordon was known for his wit and sense of humor, he enjoyed all sports but particularly enjoyed the Red Sox and Bruins. He played golf, was an avid tennis player in Savin Hill and liked to fish. He loved his pipe, crossword puzzles, reading, bulldogs and singing with the Hingham OPALS group. Gordon spent many years volunteering at Harbor House in Hingham. He was the recipient of many “Volunteer of the Year” awards on both a local and statewide level serving several thousand hours. Two years ago Gordon was honored by Harbor House by planting a tree in his name outside the facility. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM, Wednesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 – 8 PM. Burial in Hingham Center Cemetery, Hingham. Donations in memory of Gordon O’Reilly may be made to The Retirement Fund of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 637 Cambridge St, Brighton, MA 02135 or National M.S. Society, P.O. Box 4527 New York, NY 10163.
