O’Brien, Gordon J. of Hull, formerly of Arizona and Weymouth, died June 29, 2013.
Gordon “Obie” O’Brien was a decorated WWII Veteran of D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge, rising to Captain of the United States Army, while serving from 1942-1946. He survived many close calls and received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, 5 Battle Stars and the French Legion of Honor. After graduating from Boston College and Law School, Gordon served the Commonwealth as a Special Assistant Attorney General and worked as a criminal and civil attorney in private practice for over 50 years. In Arizona, he wrote legal opinions for Sandra Day O’Connor prior to her appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. Quick to tell a good story or pass along lawyer jokes, he enjoyed relating his war exploits with local students and sharing humor with family and friends. Returning to Hull after retirement in 2002, he gathered with a group of gentlemen every Wednesday at the Red Parrot Restaurant for breakfast and hearty conversation. “Obie” will be lovingly remembered for his positive attitude, easy going manner, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor.

Loving father of Mark O’Brien of TX, Cindy Castro of Hull, Nancy Berube of ME, Linda Bowes of AZ, Steve Mann of CA, Eileen Robertson of Hanson, Laurie Beals of AZ, and Bonnie McCormick of FL.
