Gloria M. (DeLorenzo) Cody of Braintree, died December 13, 2020 at the age of 94.
Gloria lit up a room with her smile. She was fun loving, hard working and liked by everybody she met. She grew up in the Bronx, making life long memories with her extended Italian American family. These memories continued being made as the family moved to Weymouth when Gloria was 12. She attended Weymouth schools and kept in touch with several of her school friends throughout her life. For many years she worked for Verizon and later for South Shore VNA,, retiring when she turned 90. She enjoyed bowling, music, dancing, family gatherings, and had warm recollections of days fishing with her husband in NH.
She was the wife of the late William F. Cody, Sr. Loving mother of William F. Cody, Jr. of Hull, Linda A. Cody of Hingham, and Susan M. Cody of Lexington. Sister of Marie Denberger of WA, Judy Strahan of Kingston, the late Frank DeLorenzo, and the late Josephine Swett. Devoted “Gram” to Megan R. Curtis of Somerville, Adam W. Curtis of Auburn, ME, Heather Hanrieder of Clearwater, FL and her great grandson Eric Cody Hansen. Also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth on Saturday at 10:30 AM.
For your safety, there are Covid-19 precautions in place and seating in the church is limited to invited guests only. Family and friends who plan to attend the Funeral Mass in person must register at https://mass-attendance-registration-shwey-2020.eventbrite.com or call the church office: 781.337.6333. For those who are unable to attend the funeral mass in person, the mass will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel.
Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton will be limited to 20 people.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gloria may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
Normally, the funeral is an opportunity for the community to gather in support of one another. Although we cannot gather together with Gloria’s family at this time, friends may still offer their support by sharing a special memory or message by clicking the link above.
