Holbrook, Gloria B. (Baker) of Weymouth, passed away September 4, 2011. Beloved wife of the late William F. Holbrook. Loving mother of Mary Ellen Sweeney of Hull. Gloria was born in Boston on April 11, 1925, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Hrones) Baker and lived many years in Quincy, Abington, and Randolph before moving to Weymouth in 2005. Until her retirement, she was an educator for many years for the Animal Rescue League of Boston, giving marionette shows to school children. She was also a graduate of Woodward School for Girls and a longtime member of the Granite City Stamp Club and the Boston Mycological Club. Her interests were many and varied, particulary music, the arts, literature and wildlife. Memorial donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203-1600, Defenders of Wildlife, 1130 17th Street, NW Washington, DC 20036, Quincy Symphany Orchestra P.O. Box 2, Wollaston, MA 02170, or to Bethany Congregational Church, 18 Spear Street, Quincy, MA 02169 Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday September 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Congregational Church, Quincy.
